Transmission and Distribution Workflow

Over the years, FIFA has refined its transmission and distribution set-up using the latest and most reliable technological innovations to share live footage of the competition with the world.

Transmissions from the broadcast sites to the IBC rely on a dedicated Broadcast Contribution Network (BCN), using a fibre-optic infrastructure. To ensure a fail-safe set up, a redundant set-up is used, with the first fibre-optic path being doubled up with another one using a different network. In the unlikely event that the fibre-optic transmission system is disrupted, another transmission path via satellite is prepared as back up. The same set-up is used for distribution of feeds to Media Rights Licensees.
