- Overview
The International Broadcast Centre hosts several Quality Control premises, where feeds are checked by dedicated teams, both from a technical and editorial viewpoint before being distributed to the Media Partners’ home premises. This process maintains consistency and high standards throughout the competition; from that point of view, quality control plays a vital part in the smooth operation of the coverage as well as the promotion of the visual identity of the competition.
- Main Responsibilities
The Quality Control Producers’ main activity is to monitor all incoming feeds focusing either on the ESF or the Multi-Feeds. Their main areas of responsibility are:
- Daily reporting, highlighting positive and negative aspects of the coverage
- Ensuring coverage guidelines are adhered to
- Support and feedback from the IBC to Match Venue-based production teams
- Ensuring running order timings are respected, to facilitate unilateral activities for the Media Partners
- Monitoring the coverage of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decisions to ensure guidelines are being adhered to
- Coordination
Quality Control Producers also conduct checks before the start of every feed to ensure accuracy, and correct usage of graphics and camera framing/lighting of interview areas.
In addition, the producers liaise with production teams about editorial issues to ensure no major stories are missed.
The Producers work closely with the Broadcaster Event Centre (BEC, the dedicated platform for event-information sharing to Media Partners) team to ensure any changes to live or non-live production plans (for example a kick-off delay or postponement) are communicated in a timely fashion.
The Quality Control team’s work to standardise content also extends to MD-1 training coverage.
